Roof Stain Protection

Stained or Discolored Roofing?

You have probably seen unsightly dark streaks on asphalt shingle roofs. Though often attributed to the build up of dirt, mold and  the common culprit is a blue-green algae known as Gloeocapsa Magma that is spread by airborne spores. This typically occurs on the north side of a residential roof. The experienced team at Impressive Homes will install zinc strips at the ridge of your roof because zinc coating on galvanized metal is toxic to algae. Every time it rains trace amounts of metal are washed down the roof stopping the growth and spread of algae.
